Window Regulator replacement DIY

O1s Helped me on this one, but i decided to do a quick write up for future problems.

Last thursday, i was putting my window down, and i hear a grind, followed by a clunk. It was my passenger side window regulator locking up. I popped open my door panel to find the regulator wires uncoiled and locked. I bought the part, it was around 100 dollars from an acura dealer halfway across florida.

1) Remove your door panel, unplug the wires from your door panel also. https://acurazine.com/forums/audio-video-electronics-navigation-22/2nd-gen-cl-door-panel-removal-335272/

2) If the same problem happened to you as to me, you will see the metal cables which used to pull the window up and down. Using wire cutters, snip both of the cables leading to the window. (Yes, cut them)

3) You will see two quarter size holes in the metal door panel (secondary panel) manually slide the window so the two window bolts line up with those holes.

4) Remove the two bolts holding the window to the slide.

5) Slide the window back to the very top, I used a door stop wedge to hold my window in the top position.

6) Remove the two bolts at the top of the window slide.

7) Remove the two bolts at the bottom of the window slide. At this point the window slide SHOULD pop off, with nothing but the regulator holding it to the door.

8) There are 3 bolts in a triangle pattern holding the regulator/motor to the door, remove all three. This should free up the regulator.

9) Take both old part out of the door access hole.

10) Reverse operation for the new part installation. It is quite simple, everything lines up perfectly.

11) The last step is to line the window up with the slide mechanism.

After this, put the door panel back on, test if it works, and bolt the door panel back into place.

Your window WILL get dirty/greasy, so clean up!

Please PM me if you have any questions. Save some money (and time!) and don't waste your 169.99+ tax at the local acura stealership.

my window broke this morning. the guys at the shop where i work helped me get the panel off and the window propped up. when the new regulator assembly comes in i will be using this DIY to replace it. BTW, my trusted repair facility quoted me $369 to fix the problem. I can do it myself now for $100!!!

I assume the metal wire was uncoiled and detached from the window slide?

You need the regulator, it includes the slide and the motor:

Passenger side - 72210-S3M-A03
Driver side - 72250-S3M-A03

Each side sells for around $90 online, obviously more at the dealer.

Its very easy to replace. Just follow the DIY. Any questions, just ask.

Yup that's pretty much it! Thanks. What's a good site to get one? Or do I go through Honda/acura?

Tim said he will beat any dealer's prices. Civic's post contains the link.
