02CL-S w/headers vs 00 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP with i/h/e/p/injectors

The cars(both gas tanks on Empty):

2002 Acura CL-S with just headers + an extra 240lb friend lol which looses me about 15hp at the crank. Generally speaking for every extra 100lb's of weight you loose 7hp!

vs

2000 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP with fuel injectors, icebox intake, headers, full 3" exhaust, 3.25" pulley.

First race 20mph roll-
We are dead even up until seventy when I had to shift out of second into 3rd putting me at the bottom of the gear. We had to let off at 80mph cause of a turn and stop light ahead, but he didn't have more then a half car on me. I was suprised that I kept up so well. He said he's probly running high 13's, but I don't think so cause all I have on currently is headers.

Second race 45mph roll
I pull ahead cause I am in the top of 2nd, as I shift into third @ 65mph he pulls back and slowly starts to keep pulling away. By the time we get to eighty we have to shut down again He was 1 car ahead of me.

I was very suprised I was able to keep up with him. I can't wait to run the 1/4 mile at the track with him so I can actually take advantage of my third gear and top-end. I think it will be dead even at the finish since my 3rd gear tops out @ 105mph right in Vtec. By that time I will also have my own pulley and intake.

I dunno when we will be able to do this, but I will be sure to get this on camera

sadly, the pulley really wont do anything for you. I went 3 peice and I dident feel any difference at all. If I were to make a sugestion, scrap the P idea and save for a NEO. Being able to tune your car to work with your new intake and header would be worth way more in the long run. Pluss you can lower the VTEC start point down a few 100 RPMS to make for a nice extra power boost, just my 2 cents

I don't know a damn thing about tuning or even how much the neo-tune would run. That also kinda scares me that I would mess up my ecu.

What all mods do you have? I have read that the crank pulley will give abour 3-5 whp and will make the rpms rev much faster.

thats the NEO that I went with, I got my used for about half the price though. The tune is really easy to do, it walks you through the process when you first set it up. I have Intake aem V2/h-ss chrome/p-UR 3 peice/greddy exhaust, and the neo, I/H/and E went on at the same time and the power increase was CRAZY. When I did my 105K matanance I did the Pulleys and I really could not feel any difference. Dont be detoured however, if you want to go with pulleys make sure you post after you get them on to see if you feel any difference.

I was expecting to get WALKED ON HARD...maybe I just got a factory freak. I kept up with a Audi TT AWD Vr6 too My friends GTP was running 91 octance and I was running 93 octane shell V-Power

Suprisingly he was reluctant to race from a dig...I bet he can't control the wheel spin which is a known problem for that car. However I did beat an 04 Grand Prix GTP Comp G really bad and he had a ram air hood and exhaust

So much wrong information in this post that I wouldn't even know where to begin. A crank pulley is probably one of the best bang for you buck mods on this car so please don't listen to this guy.

Second, lowering VTEC essentially makes sense, but if that were the case, then think about it, why just not leave the valve open all the time, why even have an RPM limit.

Don't listen to this guy, it makes no sense what he is saying.

Pulley info-WRONG

NEO info-WRONG

I looked into the Neo, definately don't want to get that. Don't want to bother with wiring, tuning, CEL's, and all that money lol.

I'm still aiming to get a pulley. I think it will make a difference if its 6-7lbs lighter

You are going to tell me the the UR crank pulley does NOTHING for the CL-S.

Its a fact, you are wrong and guess what just because people don't agree with you it doesn't mean they are wrong.

Also, I have done every mod to my car too on my own as well and I can tell you the the UR crank pulley helped immensely and for $170 it was WELLLLLL WORTH IT.

Stop being a crybaby and why don't you do some research before commenting and giving someone false information, because thats what you are doing based on what you said in your previous post.

Why is it that it seems like everyone on here hates you, hmmmm I wonder what the variable is.

A.) The entire Acurazine board is a bunch of assholes

B.) You are the asshole.

I think we all know the answer but I'll let u decide.

I was saying your stupid for getting the Neo. I just don't want to get it for the reasons I already listed. I do however think the pulley will make a difference in faster rev's and a few whp. You were probly just expecting more out of the pulley...you gotta understand you will not be able to butt dyno everything especially after you already install headers

Yes...you pretty much only need the crank pulley. The underdrive pulley was probably one of my favorite mods, not only do you add a little horsepower, but its great how fast you can build up the revs.

I was actually thinking about getting the Ralco stock size pulley set off ebay for $135 shipped instead of the UR Crank Pulley which is way more just buy itself. It seems like a lot of 350z, s2000, rsx/integra, and civic owners left good ratings for the Ralco pulleys

Unless you plan on going supercharged, stick with a smaller diameter pulley. If money is an issue, I think some people on the board run a Bomz(sp?) underdrive crank pulley with no issues.

Nice races! From a dig is where those GTP's shine especially with mods. From a roll the CL-S has a good advantage with its 5AT and of course headers help alot!
