Brembo caliper covers... any good?

Hey guys,

I finally purchased ninetysevencl's rims and spring/suspension kit.
Since the rims are 5 spoke 18's, the brake calipers are going to be extremely visible. Since the ones on my 99 2.3CL are kind of ugly and rusty, and that my funds are running dangerously low, I am looking for a cheap alternative:

I found on ebay Brembo fiber caliper covers (that would look nice on my red car): the set of 4 is $50
check it out here:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/RED-B...spagenameZWDVW
First of all, would they fit or stick with high temperature silicone?

Is there any other cheap alternative?

What about "painting" my calipers? Anyone have specific brand names/products? How much would that cost?

Thanks.

Im always on Rice patrol, and Brembo brakes are not rice! The fact that they are fake, is a little rice-ish. But Brembos are tight!

If they're not real brembo calipers, than it's rice. They're "covers" not calipers

To all,

first, I know they are fake, and two, I do also know that they are only caliper covers. But I really thought it would look nice for very cheap.

Did you paint your calipers yourself? Is the paint simply applied on it, or did you have to go through a whole lot of other things before??

Thanks for the advice.

yeah i did paint it my self. First i used brake cleaner, and some sand paper to make the calipers ruff, so that the paint will stick better. then I taped everything off that i didnt want paint to get onto...like the rotors. Do light coats first, so that it doesnt drip. Its really easy. I put about 4 coats, and still had a lot of paint left over. but i sugguest lifting the whole car up, so the paint doesnt waste....because it dires very fast.

my calipers are completely rusted though, I think it will be very labor intensive to get all the labor off and even then if I didn't do a perfect job it would cause the paint to not stick that well. How much would it cost to get new calipers?

Yeah I used G2 as well, its sweet, only problem is I used wheel cleanera few times and it kind of wore down the paint, eventhough I tried not to get the brakes guess I messed up.
