Need Input. Staggered/Aggressive and Deep Dish Look.

Hey guys,

I need some input. I am really wanting to change my wheels lately but I have a while to decide on what I really want since winter is just around the corner.

What I am aiming at is a Wide, aggressive, Staggered look with Deep Dish wheels.

So what I'm looking at right now is either going with:
XXR 002 16" x 8 with 205/40/16 tires.
or
XXR 962 18"x8.5" front, 18"x9.5" rear.
or
Anything similar you can suggest. (Deep Dish/Retro style)

Now I only have TEIN S.techs Springs which gives me a 1.8 front and 1.5 rear drop or something like that and I am concerned of how much wheel Gap it would give me with the 16" XXR 002 wheels with 40 profile tires.

These are most recent pics of the car. Just missing the Magnaflow Exhaust.

INSPIRATION

Tell me what you think I should go for.

Thanks for looking.

well if you go with the 16's there is going to be an extreme amount of wheel gap if you keep your current suspension setup.i think your best bet is to go with 18's. but if you really want to achieve the flush look, your probably gonna want to look into some adjustable suspension. I really think the best bet of getting the stance you want with the sTechs is getting the 18's and getting a taller series tire, and a little bit wider with minimal stretch for a look similar to this, but bigger wheels and higher suspension

good luck!

As long as you don't mind getting some chuckles, go for it.

I personaly love the staggared look, just on rear wheel drive cars where it's functional...
it just looks so funny seeing staggared FF cars. That's just my honest opinion.

Man what wheel are on that Fit? I actually like a Fit now cuz of that pic. lolz
I'm really diging the 16" tho. But I guess I would have lots of Wheel Gap and that would just look like .
Plus the I can get a set of XXR 002 in 16" for cheap, compared to other 18" wheels.

Maybe If I find a good set of used TEIN Basics, I would be able to pull it off.

I can go for 40 series profit on 18" wheels but what size of width for lets say, 18x8.5 front and 18x9.5 rear?

find something else in a 17. you're gonna fcuk up something running 18's on the roads in the GTA. and like you've already figured out 16's aren't gonna work. If you can find it, the ideal fit is 17x7.5 with a +25 et. you can run 225R45's or even 235R40's for tires, plenty of grip.

I found some 17x8's with a +35 offset I might try. I'm just not sure what it will look like with only a 1.5" drop.

lol. Thanks for the

I'm keeping my eye out for the look I want. I just might wait a bit. But again, when I look are the 16" XXR's I just loved them.
I Like my CL as it is but just the fact that it looks skinny from the front and back, I want it to look wide and fat.
18" could have a possible chance of rubbing the fender, depending on how wide is the wheels.
17"'s could do the trick but I don't know?!?!

looking wide and fat is not only going to take some wide wheels, but the perfect offset, camber, wheel size, and wheel heighth. if you get 16's with your current drop, and try to look wide and fat, its just going to look mexican becasue its going to poke WAY too far, or have WAY too much wheel gap.

i wish some more knowledgable members would chime in here instead of whats going on, because im trying to help you, but i dont know very much.

if i were you i would just google low offset wheels. and read. read, and read some more. get an understanding of what the numbers all mean, and you will have a better idea of what you want to do. shit if all else fails measure.

Your definately not going to just "Fall" into having the stance your talking about. it takes precise planning. like i said, my best advice is read, read until you really understand what this whole low offset game is really about

this really isn't that hard to figure out. enough of us have the stagger/flush look.

you just need to decide on 16's, 17's or 18's. looks like you have a decent drop so you will need a camber kit for the front at the very least. i only have a 1.8 eibach drop all around. deffinetly getting a camber kit next spring, the low offset seems to be increasing my camber wear.

but yeah there's alot of room in the wheel wells, so you have a lot of options, but are kinda limited by the 4bolt. look for stuff fitted for the old 4bolt 240sx's.

theres a big difference in actually getting some low offset or aggressive wheels to fit, and making them look flush. but i think hes talking about doing something a little more aggressive. because there will be no wide and fat look becasue they wont look like they barely fit the car.

depends on what you're going for... if i were you i'd be looking at wide 18 inch wheels with a VIP style, maybe staggered or not...
and looking at wheels off of 240sx's is a great idea, when i was in the market for wheels i checked zilvia.net's classifieds for wheels regularily, as they had a great used wheel selection, and lots of them will fit the cl.
And btw older japanese wheels are easier to find in 4x114.3 than most ppl might think, as quite a few wheels come in the dual bolt pattern of 5x114.3 and 4x114.3, which also means a wider demographic for if you ever decide to sell your wheel setup in the future.
i'd say start looking at different types of wheels and decide what you like, from your choices i'd take the 18 inch sportmaxx's, but there is still a lot more styles i'd pick over them.
good luck with your search
