DENSO IRIDIUM IK20s. Already pregapped, you can not gap them yourself safely.

why the ik20s and not the ik16s? the ik20s are designed for F/i and/or nitrous, the ik16s are 4 naturally aspirated engines and those are the ones i have on my accord v6

Thats your reason right there. IK16s are for the Accord. We do not have an Accord.

The TYPE-S requires a one step richer plug than the ACCORD or regular CL/TL.

IK20s are in the FAQ, and what is recommended for our cars.

edit again - looks like they send you IK20s because that's what are in my cart when I added a set to my cart.

no not worth it at 36k miles... when I removed the stock plugs at 30k miles they were in excellent shape!

dude dont get these they are a waste. first of all u wont feel anything and second they only have a lifespan of 34k miles. your stock ones are good for 100k miles.

acctually denso .com recomends the IK16's for the typeS which i was confused by because i always thought we needed the 20's

I bought these awhile ago from ACP, but never had the time to do the install. I'm thinking of getting a new car sometime in '03.......so I'm not going to bother to install these. They are still in the box too.

Personally i think that people expect too much out of the Denso's. They dont give much power at all, maybe 1-2 whp(nothing noticeable). Main thing is that it will help gas mileage slightly and the idle is a bit smoother.

Personally i do like them and would buy iridium plugs again, just not for the retail price of them. If you can organize 100 plugs to get sold, you can get them at a considerable discount.

If you cant get the 100 plugs sold, i'd probably just go with the NGK iridiums, they are a hell of a lot cheaper.

And btw the CL-S/TL-S does take the IK20.

Exactly, i was told that by them as well...

Silverbullet, I know u do not have an Accord (just happen 2 have a car heavily based on one ) but when i was researching the densos it came across many times that the ik16s were for Na applications and the ik20s were for nitrous since the ik20s are one stage cooler...also both ik16s and ik20s come pregapped, gapping them urself will result in engine misfire

I just came from denso's website and it says that the Acura Cl uses Ik16s AND that the plugs are exactly the same as the accord v6s

for the CL/TL i do agree to go with the IK16, but for the Type-S models i'd go with the IK20. Considering that stock NGK plugs are a step colder between the accord and CL-S, i feel the IK20 is the correct plug to use.

NGK are cheaper than Denso:

NGK Iridium IX Spark Plugs, ZFR6FIX-11, P.N. 6441

For Denso, just order the IK20 for the CLS. CLP gets the IK16

Doesn't the #'s refer to the heat range? I always thought low#s as being cold and high#s as being hotter?

The 20s are colder plugs (for the CLS [higher compression]) than the 16s (CL/Accord) in the Denso Iridium lineup.

Depending on the plug manufacturer (Bosch, NGX, Denso, etc) the heat range numbering can differ...
Newer Bosch plugs (“W” part #) use higher numbers for HOTTER plugs. NGX, and Denso go the other way (higher is COLDER).

uh i went to denso and it said IK16 you want me to leave too...now it doesnt say typeS or not just says tl and cl

Do a search on this forum, read the FAQ. The IK20 is what suppose to be used in the TYPE-S.

i believe you but not because it says it in the FAQ on this board...denso doesnt show typeS or not which would lead people to belive its for both...that is probably an error but dont give some one shit when the manufacturer's web page says one thing and we another

Better check a pdf cross-reference from denso, it would state that the equivalent of the stock plugs are Ik20 for the CLS and Ik16 for the CLP.

He was the one argueing trying to push the fact when he was wrong. I don't want others thinking that is what they are suppose to use. He doesn't own our car.

Bro, I may not own a CL but that doesn't make me incompetent when it somes to my knowledge of Acuras. Granted I may not have as much experience w/cars as you do but I was just interpreting what I came along from the company itself. I also thought the Cl-S need ik20s due to higher compression and spark but Denso's reps said that the ik16s were the appropriate plugs.

I just read Nashua's post and if its pdf'ed from denso, something I didn't come across before, then it must be right. Sorry for the wrong info, it was an honest mistake
