Cl type s preformance
Any good preformance ideas for a new cl type a owner possibly links to where that mod would be sold? I was thinking the simple cai, headers, pulley system, plugs, wires, and complete exhaust.

I would have to disagree..
Headers make a ton of power on our cars... More than almost any other car that's naturally aspirated with 250 hp stock. Cai is standard. Exhaust is very questionable... Depending on what u do you can get big gains.
Auto yes is slower.
But my car did beat a cl6 with intake and headers till the top of 3rd on the highway... So auto ain't that slow fellas

anything that you can take a TL intake manifold and put on for another 15hp is not hard to make power for...
so the two cheapest mods (can be done for $500 -$700) and nets you 45hp is not hard to make power for....

Just to be clear that's 45 hp at a single point in the power band that's not 45 hp on top of the max output.
Car will be way faster still but when you are told the mod adds 15 hp for example that's 15 hp at a certain point. How much the entire power band is affected is different with very mod on every car.
My car would have 300 whp if each mods max gains were to be added up.
But in reality I am at 237ish. (Auto)

i'm just generalizing fellas, calm down.
in retrospect, if you look at the big picture....our mods dont really bring big power.
ive spent at least 3 grand on power mods and that doesnt include other supporting mods like suspension and tires.
after all this money, im only marginally faster...
i'm sitting at about 250whp in my 6MT 2006 TL.
although, i'm lightened. i took out at least 70lbs + light weight rims
yeah shes quick....but modern muscle cars eat me alive

Pre-cat delete and straight pipe on 04+ TL yields similar results...
Just to be clear....
If you are correct about your WHP then yes you are at 300hp crank... assuming 20% loss based upon established dyno runs of 208WHP on stock motor and auto transmission 208/260=0.8
237/0.8 = 296hp at the crank

I have under drive pulley which is claimed at 7-10hp, xlr8 high flow cat 5-10 hp, ct mufflers 6-8hp, ct headers 30, injen cai intake 9 hp, tb spacer, thermal gaskets, p2r plenums 8-12hp
Add those numbers up, that's not what u get total. I'm sorry the dunno does not lie.
I had 229 whp before when I hand no ct mufflers and no xlr8 cat.
I respect your opinion but you gotta understand when the gains are given on mods it is usually under the best conditions. I have scrutinized many claims and rarely do they meet the hype. Usually when they say 10 hp gain.. They mean 10 hp gained at a particular point in the power band it's not 10 hp gain throughout the entire power band. Heck, sometimes the power band literally shifts and u make the car slower overall but gain hp top end. Matter of fact that is what my high flow cat did. Gas mileage even got worse as a result of less low end torque. But I like the scream at high end it's worth it to me.

Forgot to mention the cls came out with 252 hp once it's sae corrected. So 208/252 =.825
237/.825 = 287
So.. After all that I went from 252 to 287
Total gain of 37 peak whp.
Don't get me wrong the car is a beast in comparison to stock. But it isn't even close too adding up the mods individually.

the math is accurate the auto driveline loss is 20% and the manual is 15%
if you use the new SAE corrected crank and wheel HP numbers the percentage ratios would still be the same... driveline losses are not affected by using pre or post SAE corrections
SAE corrected for CLS would be somewhere around 248hp.. (there is some thread on it in here somewhere)
BTW if you look at where the peak HP# occurs then yes the mods do add up fairly close to added hp claims. Headers claim 30HP over peak and that is what they deliver... 500rpm higher up so in reality at that point it IS a 40+ HP gain vs stock...
