Thumbs down LED buyers: BEWARE of JDM ASTAR

Beware of purchasing LEDs from JDM ASTAR in Monterey Park, CA. These LEDs are junk and are not up to US DOT standard. It will break your lamp holders when you insert it.

This is exactly what happened to me. I bought 4 LEDs from this seller in Amazon’s website. I replaced the 4 tail light bulbs with the LEDs. After replacing them, I tried the LEDs and I got a tail light warning in my dashboard. Went back to loosen the lamp holders from the tail light assembly and found out all 4 lamp holders have hair line cracks.

I took out my caliper and did some measuring. The thickness of the glass bulb base from my 03 CL is 0.111 (less than 3mm).

According to donsbulb website, the 7443 OEM standard bulb thickness is 3mm (0.118).

The LED base thickness came out to .139 (3.5mm).

The LED made a similar snapping sound like the glass bulb when inserted into the lamp holder base.

The LEDs were returned for refund but the seller refused to pay for the damages for replacement of the 4 lamp holder bases. The seller had me going back and forth with 12 emails and still refused to pay the damages. They claimed they had thousands of LEDs installed on cars but when I asked for proofs, they can’t produce any evidence. They said they have videos to show it works but they never emailed me the video. Such nonsense talk and no action means this unscrupulous seller just CAN’T BE TRUSTED.

Save yourself some heartache and headache. Go to a reputable seller like superbrightLEDs.com. I will give them a try next week.

Amazon was gracious and generous enough to pick up the tab for the 4 Acura replacement lamp holder bases. They didn’t even ask for the receipt and just took my word for it within a 5 minute phone call.

I am extremely satisfied with Amazon's customer service, but TWO FINGERS for their independent seller, JDM ASTAR. Never will I buy from this GOD DAMN cheapskate seller.

it could also be from them generating excessive heat and that can cause cracking as well from temp fluctuations.

I put some leds in my front fog lights that were from superbrite and they heated up so bad withing 4 hrs one had melted and burnt out.

LEDs DO get hot i don't care what anyone else says, see for yourself. cost me 30$ to find that out lol.

In my experience LEDs are usually more trouble than they are worth. they are highly susceptible to failure due to moisture and to overheating. LEDS are extremely sensitive to their operating temp and unlike a normal bulb that can get stupid hot and still work. LEDs are completely garbage when they are not operating withing there specs. if you have a cracked housing or anything that lets moisture in they can fail just like that.

now i will say i ended up using much smaller leds for my fog lights and they don't generate much heat at all and i love them.

However although LEDs may fit and operate as claimed from the get-go you need to consider resistance in the case of brake lights or turn signals. you need to think about the heat they will generate and u need sufficient spacing in the housing to allow for heat dissipation because they will fail prematurely if u don't make these considerations.

The LEDs from this cheapskate were in the 2 tail light assemblies for less than 30 seconds so I would think excessive heat has nothing to do with the lamp holder bases cracking. In fact, they all failed to light up. Hence, I got the dashboard warning about my brake light failure.

Not really. Buy cheap products - buy once, learns lesson, return for refund & then forever black list the shady seller. Hope these cheapskates in CA go out of business soon

Only the dumb consumer keeps the cheap products.
