from 03 cls auto to 04 TL 6 speed and now...

Im back after a couple years of not owning an acura. First had 03 cls auto comptech supercharged, then 04 TL manual. Just picked up an 03 cls 6 speed with 80k miles. I attached a picture. Good to be back on the forums.

I see more pics of silver ones but never see them in person. Down here we have a local white, blue, and red one but no silver. Looks like a nice start!

I did not really like my silver CL but after a while you realize it does not show scratches or dirt much and reflect the sun pretty well too.

It's a very useful color and i love my silver CL for it

Probably because they made more silver than any other color (986) Black was a close second with 975. These 2 colors comprise more that 50% of '03 6 speed production.

Nice congrats on your reacquisition!
Silver is one of the best colors. I just sold my AV6-6 recently and
the color/how it takes to dirt helped out a lot (especially with this Texas weather) Are you going FI again?

Nice!

I love the CL & feel that they were discontinued a bit too early. I think that coupes are making a comeback. I love it b/c I still have a backseat for my kids but i can still have lots of fun when they're not in it....

B/T/W ~there is a used supercharger in the Black Market calling your name....

Definately love the car. I am definately considering s/c again. Just installed megan racing coilovers. Honestly its hard to say which car I like better between the cls6 and tl 6 speed. I like the cl because it handles better but the tl 6 speed tranny shifted extremely smooth. I attached a picture after puting coilovers on.

nice drop! the trannys are basically the same no? Grab some hybrid shifter bushings, SS clutch line, new fluid, maybe even the slave cyl delete and it should feel great.

really..... more details please!

I know this car wont compete with the likes of modded evo or gtr but the gas usage, 6spd feel and overall fun of the car has me hooked. id be happy being able to pull on the 5th gen ss camaro or toying with a cts-v and not getting laughed at as she is my daily beater.

Slave cylinder delete? Is this the clutch damper delete or something else? I have a brand new clutch, ss lines, p-spec shifter, hybrid bushings, and the clutch damper delete but the high catch point still drives me nuts and makes me feel like I suck at stick. 6 months in and I'm still not used to it, unlike any other manual I've owned/driven.

Sorry to thread highjack, awesome pickup and welcome back! I just recently got back in a CL as well, and I'm LOVING it!

But the clutch...

Should not have a high catch point mine is low and i actually love i like that. You should look into adjusting it i'm pretty sure you can.

if you do the swap you would suprise those cars you mentioned if you did the swap + headers as long as they arent on like 25psi or something .

as far as swap if yoou have a 6speed? = swap out cam gears, crank sensor
AUTO is direct swap

no offence but a 04 TL 6sp is better than an 03 CL-S 6sp. More tech goodies, projectors, same sporty ride, slightly better performance...

I assume you mean sub-6 sec. The CL could do it. Not sure how .1 sec here and there makes a meaningful difference though.

CL vs TL

Seats: CL > TL

Coupe: CL > TL

Headers: Cl > TL

Tech Cl < TL

why is it that the 2004 and 2005 3rd gen TLs have 270hp and the rest have 258hp?

No offense but arguably you would think that a newer tech (and chassis) ride like the 04 TL would be vastly superior to an outdated CLS...but..................

I had the choice between an 04 TL and my 03 CLS6...I chose wisely
I wanted a big navi, better looking chinese made plastic interior but all of that went away when I drove my ride for the first time.

Besides....are you talking stock versus stock?
Most everyone on here has some sort of aftermarket work done.
I'm more than certain my CLS6 outhandles (and outperforms) a 04 TL

In the end both cars are driver's cars...It all comes down to preference.

I regularly have driven an 06 tl and I just don't feel connected to the car the way I do in my cl.

Maybe it's the tl's dbw or just the chassis itself, but the cl is without a doubt an overall more raw car.

Exclamation

There's a whole bunch of 'no offense but...'

So here's mine, no offense but - isn't the car choice just a matter of preference?

I wanted the coupe so I got the coupe!

It's small but still roomy for my 2 kids in the back.

Both are great cars, no need to bicker.

I test drove a 3rd Gen TL 6 speed once, it was fast but much less dramatic in comparison to the cl. I loved the interior. I wish Acura would make another Sport Luxury V6 Coupe with a 6 speed, unfortunately it doesn't look like that's happening any time soon. So for now I'll stick with my CL

Tl has electric steering, yuck(cl has hydraulic, much better feel). Tl has drive by wire, yuck(cl has cable throttle which I prefer. Better throttle response and easier to mod. There must be a reason pagani uses a cable throttle on pagani zonda r. Tl has the exhaust manifold built into the heads, yuck. Cl uses real headers that make more power. My cl can do 0-60 in 5 sec flat. With the cl you don't have to worry about your dash cracking like the tl, or the compliance bushings that need to be replaced every 50k miles or less.

I have driven both cars and prefer the cl. They are both good cars though. The way you typed tells me you are just biased towards tl because you own one.

Tl has a few more tech goodies and headlights, but I do not care for that. I hate all the electronics and beeping noises on new cars.
