holy crap!?
that's gotta feel weird hitting vtec and having the torque drop like that, then a super hard increase at 5500.

what gear was this dyno performed in?

only thing i can think of is the imrc didn't open at 3800, torque drops, then vtec kicks in and it goes up again??

i did the visual test like the video below and it appears to be functioning properly, Im guessing the only way to really tell is to take it apart.

Yea weird it's clearly there on the dyno it's open at 3800rpm.
I'm curious because I have an 03 with 130k and have the same problem it's like right before high cam kicks in(vtec). I'm going to open my plenum and check my egr system. Did he get a tire slip on the dyno?

'03 blue cls 6mt 133k.
Resonator delete
Kn&n filter.

no slippage, it was the dyno where they take off the tires.

i will look up checking the egr system, i read somewhere there is something under the driver side area that could be the problem but i cant find the thread anymore.

Take off the plenum cover and see if any carbon is present. I did that cause I was actually sputtering at one point at vtec rpm range and I had some carbon in a few ports. It was after my kn&n insert and the filter in the box was pretty old looking. Are you original owner. I hear near 105k they have some major tune at the dealer which include valve adjustment. I'm looking into only doing the valve adjustment since I'm at 130k.

2nd owner.

i have about 8k to go before I hit 100k and already planning to do the major tune at the dealership, was really hoping it was just the imrc and would replace it.

I am tempted to take apart imrc but wont have any time for a few weeks until after i get back from vacation.

valve adjustments isnt a major tune per say....

over time, heat makes the exhaust valves tight.
the intake valves are generally still in spec.

over time, they will get out of spec, but then you simply just adjust it. talking about MILLIMETERS here.

if valves were so out, you would see decrease in engine output through out entire tach. not just where the butterflies are. and that dip is exactly where my butterflies open on the graph

for reference; I have a 2006 6MT TL...same everything except I am DBW.

Let me know how it goes a vid would be excellent if you could. I am only 8 months in on mine (2nd owner). But she runs good after I cleaned out my plenum but I still notice a lack of power like almost before I hit vtec range. Some one said axels in another post. Won't know till I get it in the shop. I change my oil every 3k and run only 93 octane mostly BP or Mobil since the triptane is better for ignition temps.

ahhh ok! mm arent anything and i actually dont feel any decrease in power. the only thing i notice is sometimes the tach needle isnt smooth, it seems to be jerky but nothing is noticeable with the feel of the car.

from dynos ive seen its somewhat normal, I think it DOES have something to do with IMRC tho... Not necessarily that there is a problem... however you can almost certainly get that straightened out with a tune playing with the A/F ratio

I still haven't had a chance to look into this, work travel makes it tough to put more time into the car. I have had her for over a year and barely put 10k miles on her, she hasnt hit 100k yet and still a baby. hahaha
