Trion: Nemesis news

From here: http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/ne...and-koenigsegg

The Trion Nemesis, a new hypercar with over 1973bhp, has been revealed. Powered by a twin-turbocharged V8 engine with an unknown capacity, the Nemesis is claimed to have a top speed of over 270mph, and is able to hit 60mph in 2.8 seconds.

Such speeds would allow the Nemesis to beat rivals including the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse and the Koenigsegg One:1, the latter of which has 1322bhp available and a claimed top speed of 273mph.

Trion Supercars is described as making an "advanced ultra-luxury, high-performance line of vehicles designed around the driver".

The Nemesis features an aerodynamic shape which its makers describe as being "flawless from the front growl to the captivating tail configuration". At the rear, the Nemesis shows the same wide-arched style as the McLaren P1.

Inside, the Nemesis features a digital dashboard and internet connectivity. The car also has a 'Predator Mode', which modifies its height, suspension settings, exhaust noise and rev limit as well as its interior lighting.

The American-based startup company says the Nemesis is currently in the earliest stages of development, but that the first prototype models will be built next month.

Similar start-up operations are providing increased competition in the hypercar market. The Keating Bolt was unveiled last year with mention of a 340mph top speed, while earlier this year Arash unveiled its AF8, although that car was reputed to reach a much more likely 200mph.

Although, word is that this car is as "real" as the next NSX.

A new American supercar is coming, according to its manufacturers. The Trion Nemesis claims to offer 2,000 horsepower from a twin-turbo V-8 as well as a "Predator Mode."

Along with its monstrous horsepower output, the Trion Nemesis is claimed to be capable of 0-60 mph in 2.8 seconds and a top speed of more than 270 mph. An eight-speed sequential transmission and lightweight carbon fiber body and chassis "with Inconel elements" is also part of the package.

Even better, it can seat drivers as tall as 6'4" in any of its myriad forms, and even seven-footers when purchased as a hard top!

The design telegraphs its supercar intentions, to be sure, from the "front growl" to the large rear wing.

But what about that "Predator Mode" function? It is a comprehensive re-tune of the car, adjusting not just ride height, supsension settings, exhaust sound, and rev limits, but also interior illumination. It will "suit your driving style down to a tee!" says Trion.

Sounds great, right? Looks pretty good, too? Well, don't get your hopes up. While the latest press release from Trion claims all of these features, the Nemesis is nothing but pixels on a screen and dreams in the minds of the designers--much like Trion's office building, in fact.

Trion's web page lists its location as an office building in Irvine, California. An image accompanies that address listing of the company's web page. But a quick trip to the site on Google Street View reveals that the building doesn't look like the one pictured, nor does it bear the Trion Supercars name and logo. The company does offer some explanation for its misdirection, however, stating, "This facility serves as a temporary home with over 10,000 square feet of engineering, manufacturing, general office and conference rooms to develop the Nemisis prototype. This facility is the headquarters of one of our major design partners. TSC is utilzing this space in order to reduce design time and expenses."

We wish Trion the best--really, we do; who wouldn't love to see another American supercar?--but we're not holding our breath, either. For now, and likely for the foreseeable future, file this one under "vaporcar."
