Whack Windshield Wipers ...WELP!!

haha, just I know it is spelled with and H.

Anyways, here in the chicagoland area we were suppose to have the worst storm in 70 years. Like always the meteorologists dont know shiznit. But it did rain a little. While using my wipers they were slamming against my hood when I would go slow or stopped, but then when I got going they would hit off the side of the car, but not hit the hood.

What the F is going on. Is there a way to minimize the wipers path of travel? Or some way to tweak them. It happens with either delay or low or high. 97 CL 3.0

You need to remove them, clean off the threads, and put the bolts back on and torque them down n u should be good

You have to readjust them, loosen the bolt that holds them, and reseat them.

i had the EXACT same problem....it was speed dependant, almost as if the wind resistance played a role in it. if i went on the freeway they would almost wipe off the windshield, and at a dead stop they would slam the plastic guard.

what you need to do is first take your wiper arms off. then take the plastic guard off and remove the whole wiper assembly, this is trickey due to the awkward access area but be patient it will come. your problem lies in the rods which connect the motor to the arms. if you look at the ends there are white nylon "sockets" that are supposto snap into place over top the "ball" portion on both ends. these nylon sockets wear out and since you cannot buy just the sockets to my knowledge you have to order them. no sweat they are like $25 for both rods from OEMacuraparts.com. replace both rods and your wipers will work as new. there is a thread i got all this info from somwhere on here, if you do a search it may yield more results. good luck
