Talking Belt Squeal or 'Squealing' noise on rainy days...

Hey y'all, yesterday when I started my car and drive for like a block my cars belt starting squealing a bit. It was raining pretty good yesterday and I think it's due to some water somehow getting onto the belt near/on the a/c compressor.

The squealing stopped after the car had warmed up and I had driven for a few miles. I am missing the splash guard for my car so this is the only logical thing to come up with at the moment. Would you guys know where I might be able to get a cheap one? I saw them online for $50.

Thanks!

Check first to see if there is any play in the belt, as a loose belt will squeal.
And yeah, I'd grab a splash guard from the junkyard.

your belts are getting old.. happens to all cars just a matter of time.

get gatorback belts. and they'll never squeak. that's what i got when i did the option UD pulley. killed 2 birds with one stone

Tighten your belt or it could be the belt is old and needs to be replaced.

that's one of those things that i hate to the core. simply buying good belts will rid urself of the problem. and it makes the car seem so cheap IMO

every time u hear a car with a squeaky belt what do you think... POS

lol that's what I think

when the belts go they begin to squeak when they are cold, or moist. when the car warms up obviously both of those factors are gone so it's no apparent. thats why many people neglect changing them

thanks, but I don't think its due to the belts being old since I just changed them out about 1000 miles ago.

i'm betting it's just moisture on the belts from not having a fender liner. I would check out local junk yards first. gl
