Aftermarket HID Inverter (ballast)?

Has anyone replaced their broken inverter with one from a china brand kit? I can get one locally for $85 vs $300+ for an OEM part... just not sure if there's anything that would cause problems if i did so.

Lemme know.

Thanks.

do you know how it broke? personally if 1 bulb or ballast went out i would just upgrade the whole system to 10K for $300. ultrabrightlights.com has mcColloch which isnt PIAA but ive heard nothing but great things about. excelerate our sponsor has HID kits too.

Completely forgot I made this thread...

Not sure how it broke, but it sounds like the same failure that everyone else is having. I've tried switching the bulbs, and it's still the driver's side that doesn't work, and it keeps blowing fuses.

I'd rather not change the whole system and I don't want to change the kelvin temperature either... 10K is NOT an upgrade, it actually puts out fewer lumens and looks ricey.

Has anyone had experience with just switching one inverter with aftermarket?

don't see a problem with it, but if it's blowing fuses, maybe you've got a short somewhere. you're still better off with a brand name ballast, of course

i have, it's fine no problems... kits are under $150 if you pay more... i don't see the point.... i got 6000k might go back to 4300k when/if i retrofit projectors

you will need to switch out both inverters/ballasts and cut off the current connection... its easy trust me
