2022 Acura RDX Soft brake pedal feel

Hello,

I am experiencing a very soft brake pedal feel. Its almost going all the way to the floor with medium braking. Very scary feeling. I saw there was a TSB for the 2019 models but haven't seen anything for the 2022. Anyone know what is happening? The brake pedal didn't feel like this before. I am currently at around 30K miles.

Aren't you under warranty? I would take it to the dealer and have them fix it. I would first check the brake fluid level in the reservoir.

Except for the excessive pedal travel and soft pedal feeling, does the actual braking seem to still work about the same?

My car is under warranty and I did take it to the dealer and got their know and usual response "Everything is fine". But I don't believe its fine because the brake pedal wasn't like this before. Its very soft and mushy I have to press all the way down to get the car to brake. Now the brakes do work but I have to apply a lot more force. The fluid level is good its around the middle.

Insist that the service advisor drive your car while you ride along. Make him tell you that everything is fine.

That doesn’t sound safe. I got the fluid changed at 3 years/22k miles, afterwards my brake pedal was much firmer. However, I never had to push the brake pedal almost to the floor, that’s just not normal. Agree with the other comment, have the service mgr or tech ride with you to show the issue.

Have you gotten a car wash recently? I noticed with mine the brake pedal feels a bit mushy after a car wash for a few days (might be some surface rust on the rotors), doing a few hard stops helps gets the feel back to normal.

I drove with the service advisor but no help. They are all saying its normal. I don't understand how is that even possible. Does anyone have a recommendation of a good dealer within the NJ area? Or what to do at this point in time.

Appears there are a plethora (8+) of Acura dealers in the NJ area (and in PA and NY, depending on where you live in the state). Surely you can just drive to another dealer, explain the issue - and see if a certified Acura tech can go for a quick drive to provide anther opinion.

Is the Vehicle new to you? Does it do it all the time, or just after rainy days or car washes? Is the service advisor stating the movement of the brake pedal is normal - even though it may be longer than other cars? Have you tried a panic breaking in a parking lot to see how the pedal responds?

Every vehicle has a different brake pedal feel. Like I noted before, the firmest of my RDX brake pedal was noticeable after getting the brake fluid changed after 3 years.
